Yes, the egg will fully cook and no, it doesn’t change the flavor, just makes the oatmeal creamier!

Just saw this and it looks like something good to try. Does it change the flavor at all? Also, I am pregnant and curious how to know when the egg is fully cooked as it’s mixed with the oatmeal, as I cannot eat them any other way right now. Thanks!

I just wanted to tell you that not only is this a great idea, but great for mom’s everywhere. Not only is it good for mom’s who are pregnant, but also for mom’s with little ones who aren’t the best eaters! My son is incredibly picky, and we just got him eating oatmeal, just as long as it’s nice and sweet. But he will not eat any eggs or meat, and I can never get any protein in him. This is a GREAT way to sneak that into him, especially because I can flavor it with maples syrup and he won’t know the difference. I also use steel cut oats to give him more fiber. I LOVE that I found this, and I LOVE that you were willing to share it with the world. Thank you so very much!

Anonymous- I would make the oatmeal in the microwave with water or milk, and then quick stir in the egg and extras after it comes out of the microwave. Let me know how it goes!

I’m having oatmeal for dinner tonight just so I can try this recipe out. I’m always trying to find new ways to incorporate protein into my breakfast and this sounds perfect. I may never eat regular oatmeal again. Thank you!
