I would say you could sub honey for sugar completely in the swirl part, and you could reduce the sugar by 1/3 or 1/2 and it should still be plenty sweet! Try using coconut sugar or date sugar for the granulated sugar.

Also was wondering how to reduce the sugar as I am trying not to add refined sugars to my cooking, any suggestions here? This looks so amazing, I can imagine that the brown sugar makes it tho
